NEURO-PERFORMANCE VOCAL COACHING

A Brain-based approach to the voice

Neuro Performance Vocal Training™ is a unique, innovative approach that works with all the systems involved in voice use. Instead of focusing only on how you sing, we also explore why your body responds the way it does. In this process, we use the principles of neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and develop more efficient patterns.

Many singers struggle with persistent tension, fatigue, or performance anxiety. These challenges are often not purely technical, but linked to protective responses within the nervous system.

Whether these responses come from physical imbalance, accumulated tension, or performance pressure, the shift doesn’t always come from working harder, but from creating the right conditions for the system to reorganize. When the brain feels safe enough, protective patterns naturally begin to release.

Is this for you?

If you’ve ever felt like your voice has a mind of its own - performing beautifully in the practice room but locking up the moment you step on stage - you’re in the right place. I work with singers who are tired of "trying harder" and are ready for a path that actually feels good.

Neuro Performance Vocal Training™ is for you if:

  • You want to refine your foundation and discover just how much more ease, range, and resonance your voice can produce.

  • You’re stuck in a cycle of tension. You’ve tried every vocal exercise, but that "squeeze" or "reach" just won't go away.

  • You’ve hit a technical ceiling. You know you have more range and more colors, but your system won't let you access them.

  • Performance anxiety feels physical. It’s not just "nerves" - your breath catches, your throat tightens, and your technique fails you.

Whether you are just starting out, commanding the opera stage, leading a musical, or refining your signature sound as a singer-songwriter: we build a foundation that allows your artistic expression to thrive without limits.

Training at the source

Most vocal restrictions don't actually start in the vocal folds; they start in the communication lines between your brain and your body.

As humans, we are biologically wired for survival rather than performance. This means the nervous system constantly prioritizes safety and efficiency. When the brain senses "threat" - whether from old injuries, physical imbalance, or mental pressure - it pulls a '‘safety brake”. The result? Increased tension, loss of control, or a technique that suddenly feels unreliable.

Refining your internal navigation

For peak performance, the brain needs a clear and high-resolution map of the body. When this internal representation is blurred, the nervous system defaults to protection rather than optimal output.

To sharpen this map, we train the three primary systems that drive vocal performance:

  • The Visual System (Eyes)

  • The Vestibular System (Balance)

  • Proprioception

Through targeted neuro-drills, we enhance the communication between brain and body. We release the brake and create a high-speed connection between your brain and your voice, allowing for immediate change you can actually feel.

Training singers as athletes

The foundations of my coaching are based on principles from functional neurology and performance science, approaches also used in elite sport to enhance performance, efficiency, and resilience.

By integrating insights from neuroscience, biomechanics, and sport science, we expand the boundaries of what is physically and artistically possible on stage.

We don’t rely on guesswork or intuition alone, but build a structured approach designed to create consistent, measurable change.

It’s not about working harder. It’s about training smarter, with your nervous system as your greatest ally.

LET’S TRAIN

Single Session

  • An intensive 60-minute 1-on-1 session where we go straight to the core of your needs. This session is ideal for a targeted analysis of your vocal mechanics, identifying the right neurological input for a specific blockage, and experiencing the immediate impact of a brain-based approach.

  • Price: 90 euro (incl. VAT)

Starter Pack (3 sessions)

  • Build the foundation. The ideal introduction for new clients. Over three sessions, we map your system in detail, identify your primary neurological "brakes," and establish your personal set of neuro-drills.

  • Price: 265 euro (incl. VAT)

Progress Pack (6 sessies)

  • For those who view their voice as their craft and are ready for a deep dive. Over 6 sessions, we optimize your visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive systems to maximize freedom and resilience. We move beyond troubleshooting and focus on building a high-resolution system.

  • Price: 530 euro (incl. VAT)

 FAQs

  • Absolutely. In fact, starting with a neurological foundation can prevent many of the technical struggles that singers often face later on. Whether you are professional or just starting out, your nervous system works the same way. We meet you exactly where you are in your vocal journey.

  • Traditional singing lessons often focus on motor commands: instructions like "lower your larynx" or "aim the sound forward." This type of guidance works for some, but if your sensory or interpretive systems aren't functioning optimally, these motor instructions can fail.

In my sessions, we give equal weight to sensory, interpretive, and motor elements. We reverse the process by testing what your nervous system specifically needs to feel safe - using tools like visual stimuli, vibration, or balance activation.

Your voice acts as the ultimate compass: your output shows us immediately if the input was right. Is there instant ease? Then we’ve found the neurological key to your voice.

  • Think of it as an upgrade. Neuro-performance training doesn't replace vocal technique; it makes it more accessible.

  • Neurological changes happen incredibly fast. Many singers experience an immediate change in range, ease, or vocal clarity after applying the right "neuro-drill." However, to make these changes permanent and automatic, consistent practice and multiple sessions are recommended.

  • I offer sessions both in-person in Antwerp and online through Zoom. Because we focus on neurological inputs, the drills and assessments are highly effective in a virtual setting as well.

  • No, Neuro-Performance coaching is not a medical treatment. While we use principles from functional neurology and sports science, my work is focused on optimizing performance and vocal mechanics. If you are experiencing chronic pain, pathology (such as vocal folds nodules), or other medical issues, I always recommend consulting a doctor or ENT first. This training is an excellent addition to, but not a replacement for, medical or clinical speech therapy.

  • I value our time together. If you need to reschedule or cancel your session, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time will be charged in full.
